ceat Welcomes Summer Interns
2011 CEAT-FAA Internship Program
Interns, Grad Student Mentors and Director Lange
This unique eight-week summer internship program provides undergraduate minority students with an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience. The interns work directly on research projects in civil engineering laboratories at the University of Illinois within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The CEAT Internship Program is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Centers of Excellence Program (CoE).
CEAT 2011 Interns:
-
Catalina Arboleda Gonzalez, Universidad de Valle
-
Tiffany Kellum, Jackson State University
-
Joshua Moore, University of Illinois
-
Daniel Oldham, North Carolina A&T State University
-
Angel Perez Irizarry, University of Puerto Rico
-
Rudolph Santarromana, University of Illinois
The interns are paired with a member of the CEAT Faculty and assigned to work on a day-to-day basis with a Graduate Student Mentor. The mentors are key to making the experience a success for the summer interns. Through this undergraduate internship program, the FAA has influenced many students, far beyond the list of actual participants, through the CEAT Summer Internship Program. Undergraduate research opens students' eyes to the possibilities and allows them to see graduate school as a viable path.
